Most of the articles we publish are associated with news related to Porsche cars or at least the brand. Occasionally, you’ll find non Porsche news items – this usually occurs when we have a strong opinion or fell off our chair laughing at something. Don’t Try This At Home!

Accidents happen – not much you can do about that. However, it always feels a little better to know you are driving a vehicle that has past the tests that simulate some of the most severe accident types.

The Porsche Taycan recently aced the Euro NCAP assessment program. The safety body reported its findings this week and the Porsche Taycan earned an 85% rating in adult occupant safety – good enough for a five-star rating.

4 Inches Longer & 3 Inches Wider – That’s What She….

No, no, no – that’s the difference in size between the new 911 and the 2020 Corvette! The Vette has gone all super-car-like with a mid-engine mounted V8 of 6.2L. The Corvette is 209 pounds heavier than the 911 and sports 61% of its weight over the rear wheels. What does this all mean?

Finally, this means new Vette drivers will experience that scary decision moment in the tight twisty section on the track. With the new feeling that most of the weight is on the rear end, do you quit the throttle and spin round or punch it and trust that it will be stickier as it accelerates? Chasing the new Vette in a 911 is going to be so much fun!

Plug-in for 700 HP

Porsche is adapting the electric vehicle technology found in the Taycan for a new Macan EV. Plug-in and zip to the shops gas free with 700 HP on tap – sounds like a winner in a seriously good looking car, but wait, the shape will change!

According to Autocar, the Macan EV will be a radically different body style to differentiate it from its combustion-powered sibling. Initially, it will be sold alongside the regular Macan as a Turbo S model when it arrives in 2021. Funny isn’t it? You go all electric and green but you still need the muscly sounding “Turbo S” to get the right attention.

30 Years a Star – You Thought it Was Just A VW engine!

For more than 30 years this engine with its crankshaft in the middle and three cylinders laid flat on each side, exceeded what we’d expect from a layout that descended from the VW Beetle.

The 911 engine provides sparkling performance and a vivid personality – a magic combination that has attracted followers to the Porsche faith since 1965.

When Porsche debuted the successor to the 356 sports car and called it the 901 in 1963, Peugeot was somewhat upset. They owned the rights to all three-digit car model designations with a zero in the middle.

Battle of the Hair Dressers Revived

Porsche, yes who doesn’t want one? Now, BMW Z4, hmmm, takes a certain demographic to really want one and of course, it has always been affectionately known as a “hair dressers” car.

The Boxster has dominated this space for many years and after multiple rounds of “handbags and polite shoving,” the BMW has normally sloped off into a quiet corner for a cry. However, witness the coming of the Z4 M40i – more power, more aggressive and dare we say, a little traditional.

Happy Birthday Darling – One Day You’ll be Beautiful

It only seems like yesterday we were admiring the arrival of the Porsche Panamera. Well, that is provided you didn’t look at the outside, that is!

Things of course have improved – the 2020 car has better flowing lines and now has a better overall feel.  It’s ten years since she first appeared and Porsche is celebrating with a special edition.

She’s Not Pretty, But She Goes Like the Clappers…

Alarm bells have been ringing at Tesla for a while now – I think they are just about to experience the full rope-a-dope treatment.

While Tesla dances around the ring and throws a few punches, everyone else has sat back on the ropes and taken it. Now, here comes a heavyweight off the ropes with a counter attack and some huge brand loyalty punches. To save the planet, you can keep your Tesla, I want a Porsche.

Last Orders At The Bar Please Gentlemen

Well, it’s goodbye to the 991 and hello to the 992.  The 991 has been a ground breaking car and it only seems like yesterday it was being introduced. During it’s production, Porsche surpassed the production milestone of more than 1 million 911 cars in the models history – not bad for 55 years.

It’s too early to say if prices will take a knock in the used market, but chances are they will. With the new car available, late used 991 cars will now have to be reduced in value and the time to buy could be upon us. Of course the GT versions and not likely to decrease in value anytime soon, however, as the new 992 GT versions ship it’s possible to find a 991 GT bargain that could appreciate over the next few years.

Cheap As Chips and Bags of Fun – 996

Porsche 911 996 Used Car Buyers GuideThe early Porsche 911 996 cars are now extremely affordable and can be fun to own. Many people are scared off by reading the hyped technical problems, so prices are low, even for good examples.

Of course, not for the purist, the 996 has an usual shape to it’s headlights – despite the noise, some people actually like the shape of the lights and you wont find another 911 like it.

No It’s Not A Wagon, It’s A Turismo

OK, it’s a wagon, but Turismo sounds so much better, especially if for you the word wagon conjurers up images of wooden wheeled, horse drawn carriages.

The 2020 Porsche Panamera GTS Sport Turismo is quite a beast with 453 HP from a twin turbo V8. Room in the back for a couple of sets of clubs and enough power to still make your tee time when your partner is running late.
