Porsche Sales Numbers for 2021 – Another Record Setting Year

Porsche Macan tops the sales numbers for 20212021 – Porsche sells 55,000 new four-door models vs. just 14,000 new sports car coupe models!

Back in 2019 when no mask was needed, Porsche set record sales numbers. 2020 was a year of turmoil and included a shutdown of production during the pandemic. Porsche’s sales in 2020 were still remarkable, but 2021 new car sales have exceeded the 2019 numbers by a record amount. And, order books for 2022 are full – apparently!

While American manufacturers are moaning about no semiconductors, VW ensured enough of the little rascal chips were available for Porsche to deliver their new cars. The strategy worked with more than 70,000 new cars sold in the USA in 2021. Porsche now makes more money per vehicle sold than any other manufacturer in the USA. Not bad considering the financial mess Porsche found itself in some years ago. Read Full Article »

Porsche North America Reports Sales Volume for 2020 – Not Many Suprises

Porsche North America repaorts sales for 2020 including the TaycanReading Between the Lines of a Crazy Pandemic Sales Year

2020 was certainly a wild ride from many perspectives and the business climate was generally disrupted throughout the country. You therefore, don’t need to be a rocket scientist to predict lower sales results from most enterprises. Having said that, Porsche posted results that actually are not too shabby and in fact, still show growth when compared to 2018.

Yes, overall sales declined by a little over 4000 cars, but volume held up pretty well considering the obscure environment or “new normal” that we find ourselves in. Don’t worry though, uncle Joe and the blue cavalry will sort it all out real soon and everything will be back to…well, different. So what do the sales numbers really tell us? Read Full Article »

New Porsche 911 Turbo S – Marathon or Snickers?

Porsche 911 Turbo S 992 – No Jargonauts Here!

911 992 turbo sPorsche has become a victim of naming cliché. This problem occurs when your flagship product is the “Turbo.” Yup, that’s the really beastly 911 from the past with bags of power and is a household name in Porsche circles. The new 992 911 Turbo S doesn’t disappoint with it’s 640HP.

However, when the whole vehicle range now features a turbocharged engine, things start to get a little watered down – isn’t everything now a Porsche Turbo? To add clarity, Porsche thought it was a brilliant idea to call the all new electric Taycan a Turbo as well! So, everything is a turbo, not! The new 992 911 Turbo S is, but then again, so is everything else, mostly – clear?

EV Cars and the Porsche Taycan

Meanwhile, 122 years later….

On June 26, 1898, the P1 officially rolled out onto the streets of Vienna, Austria. The Egger-Lohner electric vehicle, C.2 Phaeton model or “P1” for short, is the world’s first Porsche. It was designed by Ferdinand Porsche and is considered to be the first stepping stone before he and his son created Porsche the company. The vehicle resembles a wooden crate or an old horse-drawn carriage, but it is actually an electric motored vehicle.

Fast forward 122 years and Porsche launch the Taycan – an electric car! 122 years, later we conclude that electric power for vehicles is probably the way to go! Read Full Article »

“I’m Taking The SUV Out For A Ride”

Different Perspectives

Porsche means iconic coupe or does it any more?Porsche – for many, the word conjures up an icon and unmistakable coupe with a rear mounted flat 6 engine and bags of history. For a new generation, this image and the whole concept could well be changing. Our kids have no idea how they could live in a world without mobile phones, so are we arriving at a time when people don’t think of the iconic coupe when they see the Porsche brand?

Look on any facebook, blog or repair shop website and you’ll see beautiful images of all sorts of coupes from air cooled classics to monstrous GT3 RS coupes. We’re also a victim of this thinking – that’s Porsche, right?

Underneath and Inside the Porsche Taycan

Take A Technical Walk Through Under The Taycan

The PCA was recently provided access to the underside of the Taycan. In the video you’ll get to see what’s going on underneath and how the components are laid out.

Interestingly, when we saw the video we were concerned about the locations of some of the parts. Plenty of other people also seem to notice the same thing if you read the comments. There are some pretty disparaging notes in regard to the durability of some components based on their locations – not sure this car will make it through a harsh winter with plenty of road chemicals.

Don’t Try This At Home!

Accidents happen – not much you can do about that. However, it always feels a little better to know you are driving a vehicle that has past the tests that simulate some of the most severe accident types.
