+ Detailed Product Description

Porsche 911 Carrera 997.2 IPD Plenum – 3.6L & 3.8L DFI Engines
  • All Aluminum Intake Plenum replaces factory plastic T design
  • Improves air flow and reduces intake air flow turbulence
  • Consistent gains of 15 HP
  • Consistent gains of 12 Ft Lbs torque
  • High flow Y style innovative and patented design
  • Easy install, no CEL & perfect fit

The IPD Plenums upgrade for the Porsche 911 Carrera 997.2 DFI engine is an innovative “Y” style designed aluminum intake plenum that replaces the factory plastic T style plenum. The IPD design improves performance by channeling intake air to the cylinder banks more efficiently. This design reduces air flow turbulence caused by the T style design and increases air flow velocity. This results in substantial measurable power gains throughout the entire rpm band and the torque increases are most noticeable at lower rpm.

There are two versions based on the engine type fitted to your Carrera 997.2:

997.2 911 Carrera 3.8L – IPD Plenum – $995.00

ipd plenum upgrade for porsche 911 carrera 997.2 DFI completeThe design of the IPD Plenum for the 997.2 3.8L DFI engine provides an additional 15 horsepower at the wheels. The DFI IPD plenum is unlike previous naturally aspirated versions that delivered stronger gains in the mid rpm range. The IPD DFI Plenum delivers a similar shaped factory power curve, but is considerably stronger from the mid range rpm to red-line, without any power loss down low.

997.2 911 Carrera 3.6L – IPD Plenum – $950.00

The IPD Plenum for the 997.2 3.6L DFI engine provides an additional 14 horsepower at the wheels. The IPD 3.6L DFI Plenum produces a similar shaped factory power curve, but is considerably stronger from the mid range rpm to red-line, without any power loss down low.

+ Our Opinion

The IPD Plenum upgrade is one of a few products that consistently delivers power and torque gains. It’s not easy to extract more power from the normally aspirated Porsche engines, however, the IPD Plenum does exactly that. You can feel the extra torque available from the 997.2 DFI engine at lower speed third gear pulls. Combined with an exhaust, ECU tune and intake, the IPD Plenums definitely deliver results.

+ Installation

Installation is pretty straight forward. On the 997.2 there isn’t too much room to work with around the throttle body and factory plenum area. The job is a little more fussy than the previous normally aspirated 997. However, with some patience and a little shuffling of rubber connectors, the installation doesn’t take long. Always take a good look at the seal on the throttle body to make sure it’s in good shape before re-attaching. The bolts for the throttle body are soft and easily stripped, so don’t over tighten.

We recommend resetting the fuel mixture adaptions after installing. This allows engine management to relearn the volume of air available and helps to deliver more consistent power gains.

If you’re not comfortable with installing the plenum yourself, we’d recommend you search our directory for a local specialist Porsche shop who can install this for you – or contact us and we’ll recommend a friendly local specialist for you.
