The AWE performance exhaust suite for the Porsche 911 991 Carrera, Carrera S, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S and Carrera GTS provides amazing sound coupled with excellent power gains. The exhaust comes in two different types based on whether your car has the PSE option included or not. For PSE equipped vehicles, the SwitchPath exhaust allows the PSE system to open valves and bypass the muffler sections at higher RPM to produce maximum volume. This is controlled by the PSE button.
On non-PSE cars without factory exhaust valves, AWE provides a non-valved version. On cars featuring the exhaust valves from the factory, the AWE Switchpath exhaust responds to the ECU valve opening in the same way as the factory exhaust. Either exhaust option deepens the tone, adds volume and increases power gains.
The exhaust was designed originally on a PDK car, so it works very well with the transmission to maintain great sound throughout the rpm range.
SwitchPath™ Exhaust
The SwitchPath exhaust is comprised of a matched valve path and non-valve inlets. These connect with two straight-through pipes designed specifically for Porsche’s new turbo-powered Carrera. The SwitchPath™ Exhaust retains the use of the original PSE valve operation in the factory system, while providing a significant increase in power and optimizing volume. The straight-through muffler design does not have acoustic packing material and therefore will retain its tones over time.
The SwitchPath™ Exhaust responds to your driving in the same way the factory exhaust does. Once the ECU opens the valves, the tone and volume produced from the SwitchPath™ exhaust jump to a higher level. Rapidly, you can go from sophisticated street car to max volume by opening the throttle. With the valves closed, the SwitchPath exhaust provides a deep rumble and exotic tones that are aggressive but yet refined.
Non- PSE Cars
The non-valve exhaust is designed for non-PSE and no valve exhaust equipped vehicles. The exhaust is constructed in exactly the same way and produces the deep tones you would expect from AWE. Without the valves, volume is lower at higher rpms and the exhaust maintains a drone free sound at highway speeds.

+ Our Opinion
Very high quality exhaust with easy fitment and really good sound. Power gains are very healthy too. Control from the PSE function is maintained – great feature and a good way to get volume when you want to. Great value for non-pse cars – really nice sound without breaking the bank and of course no emission mods so it’s street legal. Designed originally on a PDK car, so it works very well with the transmission to maintain great sound throughout the rpm range.
+ Installation
Installation is pretty straight forward, once you have the rear bumper removed. AWE includes new hardware to make the job simple. Connection of the valves is really easy and this job shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours. If you’re not comfortable with installing yourself, we’d recommend you search our directory for a local specialist who can install this for you – or contact us and we’ll recommend a friendly local specialist shop for you.
