The Man Behind The Engine
Hans Mezger has had an amazing influence on Porsche. His engine designs are legendary and a recent article from Porsche covers most of the history with some wonderful black and white pictures from the era.
Do you remember the McLaren Tag Turbo? Niki Lauda translated Hans Mezger’s TAG Turbo design into victory in the Formula One World Championship in 1984. McLaren and the Porsche engine won 12 out of 16 races at the time and Lauda became World Champion – seems like only yesterday!
