Tire Pressure Monitoring Dashboard Warning Messages

Porsche tire related messages and warningsUnderstanding Porsche Tire Pressure or TPMS Dashboard Warning Messages, Lights, and Symbols

If you see a tire pressure, or tire change message, or tpms warning light on your Porsche dashboard, it’s important to take the appropriate action. This section covers what to do when messages associated with wheels or tires appear on your Porsche dashboard.

Common Porsche TPMS Warning Messages

The Tire Pressure Monitoring System or TPMS in your Porsche is a critical safety system designed to actively monitor the air pressure in each road wheel. Too low or too high pressure of any of the tires can cause safety and road handling issues.

The system relies on battery powered pressure sensors in each wheel and it will be necessary to replace those sensors once the battery has been depleted over time. If in doubt, there is a sticker on the driver door pillar that shows the correct cold tire pressure inflation. Manually checking your tire pressures might be old school, but still a worthwhile job if you have inconsistent tpms faults.

If you have a tire pressure warning message do not ignore it. Check our guide below to see how to react and what to do next with the common warning messages that appear.

Porsche Check Tires MessageCheck Tires Message

This message typically indicates one of the tires has fallen below the minimum safe pressure level. The system indicates the recommended pressure to add.

Here’s what to do – Inflate the indicated tire and check the others tires for correct pressure. Document the drop in pressure and see if it returns. This could indicate a small leak such as a nail in the tire.

Porsche Refill Tire MessageRefill Tire Message

This is the slightly older version of the tire inflation message. This message shows that a tire is too low in pressure and the recommended inflation per tire required to reach the minimum safe levels.

Here’s what to do – Correct the tire pressures. This should show zero psi required in each tire. We recommend you re-check the cold tire pressure of each wheel and compare to the sticker on the driver door.

Porsche Tire Change Update Settings MessageTire Change? Update Settings

This message indicates that the TPMS has recognized that the pressure sensors have been moved away from the vehicle. This commonly happens when replacing tires.

Here’s what to do – Make sure the tire pressures are correct and enter this option on the menu. Follow the prompts to make the system relearn the position of each wheel sensor. This may require a drive cycle to complete.

porsche Wheel Change? Input New TPC Settings messageWheel Change? Input New TPC Settings

This message indicates that the TPMS system has lost contact with the tire sensors. This usually occurs when the tires are replaced or winter wheels are swapped.

Here’s what to do – Make sure you know the wheel size on the car. Follow the prompts and set the system back in to learn mode. After a small drive cycle the tire pressure will be relearned.

Comparing Porsche Tire Pressure Warning Messages

There are many more messages and warning lights that can appear for tire pressure or wheel change faults on your Porsche. In the older Porsche likely no message will be displayed and just a light or symbol – see our page dedicated to explaining Porsche dashboard warning lights and symbols.
